Our trip to Arizona

Last week Lexi and I got home from our week-long vacation in Arizona. We decided to ditch Jeff and the yucky Dallas weather and head for the sunny skies of Scottsdale. The trip got off to a shaky start because our original flight was cancelled due to bad weather. Luckily Southwest got us on a flight going out the next day and we made it safely to our destination.

It was so wonderful because both of my sisters were able to come and spend a few days. It’s been a while since all the Nielsen women have gotten together and it was a blast. Plus, it was great to get Lexi together with all of her cousins. Jerilyn’s kids are so hilarious!

We did so many fun things while we were there including a trip to the zoo, dinner at the train park, and a few late-night trips to Target. Oh wait, let’s not forget driving all over Scottsdale looking for the new People magazine for Jerilyn. One of the highlights was definitely the day we saw the wildlife menagerie. My parents have a friend who is an avid hunter and has on display all of the animals he has killed and stuffed. I was a little skeptical before going, but it turned out to be so cool. This man has an entire warehouse filled with stuffed animals including a full-grown elephant, several lions, hippos, bears, a cheetah, etc, etc. It was so fun for the kids to get up close to these amazing animals. We also got to see his wide variety of exotic cars including 2 Vipers, 2 Shelbys, and a Lamborghini. Jeff was pretty jealous he wasn’t there.

The one downside to the trip was that my mom got DEATHLY ill while we were there. I honestly have never seen her that miserable. She basically had to stay in bed all day. Then, to make things worse, during one of her late-night eating frenzies, she tagged her head on a door and ended up with a giant goose egg. Talk about adding insult to injury. Poor Lala. Thankfully she is on the mend, although I told her that if either Lexi or I caught what she had, she would have to fly to Dallas and nurse us back to health.

All in all, it was a wonderful trip. My favorite part was having long talks with my sisters. They truly are some of my best friends. I can’t wait to get together with everyone again.

Very cute post. You got some really good pictures. The pictures of Lexi in the mermaid costume and with the wig on are hilarious! I love them!!

I totally scored that mermaid costume and made your mom get it at Last Chance. I should be a professional buyer, huh!?!?
