A Family Forever Changed

As many of you know, several weeks ago my life changed forever. On April 7th, I was mountain biking with my husband when I hit a rock, flew over my handlebars, and landed on my head. After 7 hours of surgery to repair 4 broken bones in my spine, I emerged paralyzed from the chest down. I am now in rehab learning to live my life as a paraplegic. I am optimistic that I will re-gain feeling in my legs and will make a full recovery. But, until then I've got to learn how to live with my current condition. I have been trying to update my progress on Facebook, but I've decided I'd rather chronicle my journey on my blog. I am working on compiling the happenings of the past 4 and half weeks and will add that in when I get it done. So, here it goes. Stay tuned.

Good for you, Brit! You are in our prayers all the way from Ecuador! I still remember what a sweet girl you were when you tried to save our dog that had been killed by an eagle while we were up at Deer Valley. When we came home that night, you were holding him on your lap and sobbing; you had even given him mouth-to-mouth to try and resuscitate him! What a doll you are!

I'm so glad you're doing this! I think about you every day. So until I can check on you in person, this will help me feel like i have an idea of what is going on with you.

all my love!

You don't know who I am......I blog-stalk, and came across your blog. I was touched by your frankness and I said a little prayer and put it out in the universe for you. Your attitude is amazing and I'm sure you will overcome every single obstacle that is coming your way. I've added you to my blog list and will keep up on you.

Just come across your blog in May detailing how you have had life changes recently. I do hope that you will recover full function, but in the meantime it will be hard and I am sure the last thing you wish for is writing on your blog... however I do hope you will start again and let us know how you are. I had a spinal op last year and then another one to try and correct the paralysis that the initial op had caused.. I am a year later still having to manage matters, but I am getting stronger and I am sure it will be the same for you.... hugs from across the pond ..J
